Description

Premium Dust-Free, American-Made Joint Stabilizing Polymeric Sand for Pavers Thank you for considering DOMINATOR! For the best results, please consider: DOMINATOR is ideal for concrete, wetcast, stone, and clay pavers and can be applied to new or existing installations. Please hold off on using our polymeric sand if temperatures are expected to drop below 50°F within 48 hours of application. The color will darken slightly after activation. To ensure the color meets your expectations, consider using a 10 pound bag to test the product on a 9 sq. ft. area.Do not apply if pavers or stone are wet or damp to avoid premature activation. For New Installations Ensure proper drainage beneath the surface. Installation is not recommended in areas below grade.Edging is necessary to keep the sand in place.DOMINATOR can be used with pavers of any size, but the joint width should be between 1/8" and 4", and the joint depth should hold at least 1" of product. For Existing Installations Before installing DOMINATOR, remove any existing joint material carefully to avoid disturbing the underlayment or paver base.Once all material has been cleared (or a minimum depth of 1" is available), proceed with the installation.Note: DOMINATOR is not intended to be used as a capping sand. How To Apply DOMINATOR Polymeric Sand Previous page Sweep in the Sand Using a push broom, sweep the product to fill the joints completely, down to their full depth. Avoid sweeping the product over a long distance, so that its integrity is preserved. Sweep Off Excess Sand Sweep off excess product with a hard-bristled broom. Use a leaf blower to remove all remaining DOMINATOR Polymeric Sand residue from the surface. Activate Set the spray nozzle to "shower". Work in sections of no more than 9 sq. ft. ensuring wetness throughout the joint. Wait a few seconds and repeat spray pattern. Blow off Remaining Water Use a leaf blower to remove any excess water remaining on the surface. This is to ensure all DOMINATOR Polymeric Sand residue is removed from the surface. Important Please refer to this activation chart to avoid underwatering/overwatering the product. If you notice foam, don’t worry. Stop watering the sand to prevent the polymers from washing away. Elevate Your Outdoor Spaces with Designer Colors Elevate your outdoor space. Transform ordinary pavers with our designer sands. Your vision, our colors. Next page Remember, DOMINATOR Polymeric Sand is haze- and dust-free and requires no additional compaction, making your project easier and quicker to complete. My sand doesn’t harden after 24 hours. I can still press it or scratch it with my finger. Why is this happening? Humidity and temperature can increase the cure time. Polymeric sand will set once that water has fully evaporated from the sand. Note that polymeric sand will appear flexible when wet and may feel spongey but will remain set in your paver joints. After I watered in the sand my pavers now have a haze to them. What did I do wrong? The surface must be completely dry at the beginning of the application process. Any moisture will cause the polymers to stick and prematurely activate leaving a white residue on the surface. Wait 14 days after application to clean your pavers. I am replacing my existing joint stabilizer that is 2" deep. Do I have to remove all the old sand and start fresh? We would recommend removing all the old sand and starting fresh. The old sand underneath could result in poor drainage, causing sand failure due to improper drainage conditions. You need to remove at least 1" for the new sand to perform as intended. I filled the joints until sand reached the top of my pavers. Now rain keeps washing out my sand. Why is this happening? DOMINATOR should fill the joints up to 1/8" BELOW the surface of your paver to avoid washout. When sweeping the sand into the paver joints, you should be able to freely sweep across the surface of your pavers without disturbing the sand. I chose a color but when I received it, it wasn’t the same color as the images. Why is this? Screen colors may vary. Choose a small size to confirm the color is desired for the entire project. Activate it to see the final color as the sand will darken slightly after activation with water. Don't Forget the Finishing Touch DOMINATOR Sealer Protect your new investment or revitalize existing surfaces! This easy-to-apply, professional-grade, fast-drying formula enhances and protects the color of your surfaces.

I used this for a 240 square foot patio made of 1 foot pavers. Put down 3 - 4 inches of decomposed granite and used a plate compactor (rented from HD) to make sure it was solid. Then a 1 inch layer of sand to set the pavers. Set them in and lightly tamped them in. Just left a 1/8 inch gap between the pavers. They felt "loose" when walking on them, even though the base was very firm, they'd move slightly when walking. I had planned on using another brand of poly sand, but when I looked at the instructions, the stuff available locally said it was for 1/4 inch or larger gaps. I found this Dominator Polymeric sand at Amazon, it had good reviews, and said it could be used for 1/8 gaps. So I bought the 45 lb bucket.Installation was pretty simple: Spread the sand over the pavers, then sweep it into the gaps. I used a 24" push broom with fairly still bristles. Keep spreading sand and sweeping until the gaps are full. I found that going across the gaps at an angle worked best. When the gaps are full, sweep the excess off. Then use a leaf blower to get the remaining dust. Use the leaf blower LIGHTLY so you don't blow the sand out of the gaps!Following the instructions, I used a hose set on shower to spray small sections (about 8x10) at a time. Spray for 15 - 20 seconds until water just starts to pool on the sand, then stop and wait about 30 seconds. Then spray it a second time.It only took about 5 minutes to do my 240 square feet. I again used a leaf blower to blow any sand residue off the top of the pavers. To be honest, I don't think that made a difference on my concrete pavers, as I used the Titanium color, which perfectly matched the pavers. I don't think I did a good job with the second round of blowing, but there are no stains anywhere. That's it. Done. And when walking on the pavers immediately afterwards, they were SOLID! The sand was still wet, but this stuff really locked the pavers into place! And the next day, after the sand had cured more, it was even more solid. The stuff sets up almost like a good silicone sealant; it's flexible, but it's kinda glues the pavers together. I had about a 1/4 inch gap around the perimeter of the pavers, between the pavers and the aluminum edging I used, and (about 2 weeks later) you can press your finger into those spots and it's still kind of flexible. Solid, but flexible. It feels like it'll stay that way for years. And the pavers don't move around - at all! We moved our patio furniture onto it, and use it daily. The 45 lb bucket was just enough to do our 240 square foot patio with 12 inch paver with 1/8 inch gaps. And I mean just barely. If you have bigger gaps or smaller pavers, you'd need more. Yes, it's fairly expensive compared to the kind at the big box stores, but it's worth every penny. If you're doing pavers, don't even think about getting something else - this stuff is awesome!
